Spring Break and Upcoming Events
Good evening students and parents. I have a few very important announcements about our upcoming schedule and some upcoming events. This Thursday and Friday, March 28 and 29, there will be no college classes in observance of Easter. However, this Thursday, high school classes will still operate on their regular schedule. This Friday, Yadkin County Schools will also be closed for Easter. Also, next week, April 1-5, will be spring break for Yadkin County Schools. There will be no high school classes all next week but college classes will operate on their normal schedule since their spring break was earlier in the month of March. Buses will not operate next week so students who ride a bus and attend college classes will have to find transportation to class or contact their instructor and inform them that they do not have transportation due to Yadkin County Schools being on spring break. The instructors will notify students of what work they need to complete during that time.
On Saturday, April 6, Yadkin Early College students will compete in volleyball and chess against other early colleges in the area. The competitions will begin at 9:00 am that Saturday morning. Students who are competing are asked to be there no later than 8:40 that morning. Looking further ahead in April, we will have a trip for our graduating students on April 19 and a dodgeball tournament at North Iredell High School on April 20. Students need to sign up their teams if they have not already done so for this event. The school year is quickly coming to an end and summer break is just around the corner. I hope each of you have a wonderful evening, a blessed Easter weekend and an enjoyable spring break next week.

YCS Closed Tuesday, January 9, 2024 (message sent 1/8/24 @ 7:35 pm)
Good evening. I hope each of you received Dr. Martin's message earlier about Yadkin County Schools being closed for students tomorrow due to the impending inclement weather concerns. This includes Yadkin Early College high school classes as well. There will be no high school classes tomorrow and no bus transportation. With regards to college classes, students who are currently enrolled in Surry Community College classes may elect to attend those classes with the approval of their parents or they may contact their college instructors and notify them that they are a Yadkin Early College student and due to the fact that Yadkin County Schools are closed for weather they will not be attending class. Students must notify their instructors if they are not in attendance and are responsible for completing any work required for the class. If they do so, their absence will be excused by the college. Students may find their college instructors contact information on their MyKnightLife account. I hope each of you stay safe and we plan to see everyone back at school on Wednesday.
START OF THE SPRING SEMESTER (message sent 1/2/24 @ 5:30 pm)
I hope this message finds you well and rested after the Christmas and New Year break. I have some important information to share with you regarding the start of the spring semester. The first day of the spring semester for high school is this Thursday, January 4. High school classes will begin on Thursday. Students will report to homeroom first that morning to receive their schedules and information prior to starting first period. The first day of the spring semester for college classes is Monday, January 8. Students who have college classes can view those schedules on MyKnightLife. College textbooks will be available for pick up from Mrs. Wingler starting at 9:00 tomorrow morning, Wednesday, January 3. We encourage as many students as possible to come and get their textbooks tomorrow to limit the interruptions to our science classes which begin on Thursday. Students who have both high school and college classes this semester (this should only impact current juniors), are only required to be here for high school classes this Thursday and Friday. Their normal schedule with all their classes, both high school and college, will begin on Monday, January 8. If a student does not know their schedule, they should come to homeroom at 8:20 on Thursday morning to pick up their schedule. To help with this, please note the following times for junior level courses. This semester, English 4 will be during 1st period with Mrs. Cave. Spanish 3 will be during 2nd period with Mrs. Sarabia. AP Calculus will be during 3rd period with Mr. Webster, and Economics and Personal Finance will be during 4th period with Mr. Johnson. To summarize, high school classes begin this Thursday and college classes begin next Monday. Schedules are available during homeroom on Thursday morning and college textbooks are available starting tomorrow morning at 9:00. On a different subject, Yadkin County Schools has updated school websites so there is a different look to them but most of the same information should still be available. You may just have to look to find it until you get adjusted to the new layout. I hope each of you have a wonderful evening and we will see you for the first day of class.
